WHEREAS the Seventh-day Adventist Church makes its decisions based on prudence and balance, and always seeks to work in harmony with the decisions of duly established authorities, such as civil and health authorities;
WHEREAS the social responsibility that local churches have regarding their influence and the impact of their decisions on people’s behavior;
WHEREAS the current context of the Covid-19 pandemic and the advance of variants, including omicron, which has a high potential for transmission;
CONSIDERING the previous guidelines given by the Seventh-day Adventist Church to protect and contain the spread of the pandemic in administrative headquarters, temples, institutions and in all areas of activity;
CONSIDERING the organizational levels of the Church in South America and the respect for local and regional peculiarities, favoring decisions for each reality;
WE RECOMMEND that each administrative region, through its Crisis Management Committee, periodically evaluate the epidemiological situation and local legislation for holding meetings, events, in-person worship and other activities, as well as the operation of administrative offices, educational, welfare and health entities, food factories, communication entities, and the area of publications, etc., acting in accordance with the established health recommendations.
WE RECOMMEND that, in meetings in temples and in face-to-face work environments, the need to comply with health practices and measures such as: use of masks, social distancing and sanitization of all environments be emphasized. At the same time, we encourage the use of technologies for broadcasting worship services, meetings, remote work and pastoral care.
